Origami Owl Box into a Card holder

Hello Everyone

A friend of mine is selling Origami Owl now and has saved a few boxes that she receives all her items in. She gave me some to see what I could come up with and naturally I wanted to make a box to hold my many leftover cards.

I was able to unfold part of the box and tape it up to be able to hold some cards.

Now the paper i used to decorate is a very old set that Stampin Up used to sell. But I wanted to try it out before I used my newer paper.

So here is a tutorial on how to build up the box. I'm not showing how to decorate it. I'll leave that up to you.

First I brought up the sides of the box. This gave it more room inside so that your cards can fit perfectly.

I pulled out the front and taped the side flaps so that they could stay secure.

I then cut off the top and the side flaps at an angle before I taped it down.

Then your done.

Your able now to decorate your box however you want. I did wrap mine over the sides of the box so that it was a clean edge. I then added the inside paper so you don't see the folds.

Hope you enjoyed.

  1. That's awesome!! I have all these boxes saved....why I don't know but I just can't get myself to throw them out....Love this idea! Can you show how you wrapped it? Also, what is that red tape you used?

    1. Thanks for the comment Sonia. I know what you mean by not throwing them away. I had a feeling they were good for something. Wrapping the box was a little challenging at first. I mainly just cut up pieces of paper and glued it on. nothing too special to it. As far as the red tape, it's Sticky Strip from Stampin Up but they don't sell it anymore. I would suggest a good tape to use rather then glue. It's gonna be covered with paper anyways.
